Tour of the Stanford University Campus: The Stanford Coordinators will take the participants on a tour of the campus. They will visit the Art Museum, Sculpture Garden, Hoover Tower, and more. |

Group Reflections and Discussions: Every night students will reflect on the days activities. They will share their thoughts with each other and discuss different aspects of the poverty issues. They will also talk about what to expect for the next days activities and prepare for their visits. |

| 10am-12pm: |
Coordinator Presentations: Stanford Coordinators will talk about how different entities contribute to the homeless and impoverished communities. Each Coordinator will focus on services provided by either the government, NPOs/religious groups, corporations, or educational institutions and student groups. |
|
| 1-2:30pm: |
Participants share their research: Participants will get into groups of four to share thier research they will each have about 15-20 minutes to share. Then they will discuss similarities and differences that they find in the U.S. and Japan. |
| 2:30-4pm: |
Outdoor Games: We will take a break with games in the grass. |
| 4-5pm: |
Professor Donald Barr: Sociology and Biology professor, Dr. Barr, not only teaches students at Stanford university, but also is a very important part of the local community in helping the un housed. You will hear from him about how he got involved. |
5-6pm |
Student Group Panel: Meet Stanford students who are part of student groups that focus on helping the impoverished communities |

Visit the Opportunity Center: The Opportunity Center is a mixed-use facility built in the heart of the Midpeninsula region that provides coordinated services and housing to homeless men, women and children in our community - and those at risk of becoming homeless. It also serves as a resource to the whole community in the challenge of responding to homelessness. We will meet with Dr. Osterberg and Dr. Reicherter who provide heath services for residence of this center. |

Group 1: Volunteer at Sacred Heart Community Services: Sacred Heart Community Service offers various services for immigrant, homeless, and impoverished communities. Participants will learn about this organization and help with sorting food donations, packing family and homeless food bags, distributing groceries and produce, or sorting and hanging clothing donations.: |
3-7pm:
Group2: Volunteer at Urban Ministry: Urban Ministry provides many services for the homeless community in Palo Alto. One service is providing hot meals every day of the week at different churches around Palo Alto. Students will help prepare and serve food to the Palo Alto community. |

Volunteer with EPATT: East Palo Alto Tenis and Tutoring provides tenis and tutoring lessons for children from low income families in East Palo Alto. Participants will teach these children how to fold Origami and spend some time with them. |

Faithful Fools Street Retreat; Participants will go on a street retreat with Faithful Fools which guides people through the streets of San Francisco in the shoes of the homeless. Participants will walk around observing people around them and spending a day as the homeless might spend their time. This includes eating at soup kitchens, discussions and reflections after. |

Visit Glide Memorial Church: The Sunday Celebration at Glide Memorial Church is quite unique. The Glide Ensemble will clap, sway and blast out the spirit of empowerment though singing a variety of songs, including jazz, blues and gospel. Participants will also have an opportunity to serve food in the soup kitchen or prepare bagged lunches for people in poverty. More information about Glide can be found at http://www.glide.org/ |

Free Time in San Francisco: You and the coordinators will explore San Francisco in your topic groups. You will have a chance to visit various famous places such as Pier 39, Fisherman's Wharf, Ghirardelli Square, China Town, etc.

| 9am-2pm: |
Visit the Department of Housing Services: Participants will visit the Department of Housing and meet the committee in charge of homeless programs in San Francisco. They will also visit a few shelters that the government works with and speak to residents of the facilities.

3-5pm |
Visit and Volunteer with Asian Neighborhood Design (A.N.D): Participants will visit A.N.D. to learn about their job training programs and see the housing facilities for people in poverty. They will also help clean up the parks and surrounding area that the children play at. |

Volunteer with Habitat for Humanity: Habitat for Humanity has been helping low-income families build and own their own homes since July 1986. Participants will have a chance to join a project in San Francisco to help build a house for a low income family. |
