Welcome to Volunteers in Asia (VIA)

Celebrating 45 years of international service & cross-cultural education

VIA's Mission

VIA provides innovative experiential learning programs in Asia and the United States that promote cross-cultural understanding, build partnerships, and offer transformative experiences for our participants and the communities they serve.

VIA's Programs

VIA's Asia Programs provide U.S. Citizens and U.S. Residents (between the ages of 18 and 75) with volunteer, educational and fellowship opportunities in Cambodia, ChinaIndonesia, Myanmar, Laos, Thailand, and Vietnam. Volunteers teach English, learn about the local culture and provide support to local non-profit organizations.

VIA's Stanford Programs provide Asian students from top universities in China, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea and Taiwan with the opportunity to participate in short-term experiential-learning programs at Stanford University. Students learn about American culture, public service, and healthcare. So the exchange comes full circle.

    VIA Survey Results Pt. 2

Thanks to all who responded to the first part of the report, and I welcome any/all comments, suggestions, or questions you may have on this second part.  Our analysis of the survey certainly has been useful and further reveals our alumni hold a special place in their hearts for VIA – This is always nice to hear.

A few months ago, VIA conducted a survey so we could hear from alums about their time with VIA and their current relationship with the organization.  The response rate was reflective of our alums ongoing commitment to VIA, with a 20% return.  Thanks again to those who took the survey as we definitely got some interesting data back.  You may download a pdf of the first section below.  This section looks at how VIA's friends and former vols like to stay in touch with VIA.

VIA welcomes new China Program Director Patrick Arnold. Patrick joins VIA after managing international partner relationships for several years at a cultural exchange organization.
