The American Language and Culture (ALC) Program brings together Stanford students with their peers from mainland China, Japan, Korea, Macau, and Taiwan. Stanford students design and lead program activities around cultural themes. After the program, Stanford students travel to Asia to connect with friends from the program and learn about their culture.

Each year two 70-student sessions are offered. The 2013 program will be August 4 to 31. To learn more about activities, view the 2012 calendar.

ALC is offered by VIA, a nonprofit organization based at Stanford University that has promoted US-Asia international education and exchange for over 45 years. The program works in conjunction with Stanford Summer Sessions and the Stanford Language Center, where the Asian students will be investigating social issues through English language classes.
