ES: Tour of Stanford University: This tour will be conducted by the Stanford Coordinators. They will take you on an in-depth tour of Stanford University that will include the Art Museum, Memorial Church, Bookstore, Hoover Tower, and much more.

HD & HP: Visit the Opportunity Center: This center provides housing, health care, food and many other resources for the impoverished community in Palo Alto. Participants will talk with Dr. Barr, who helped spearhead the development of the center, visit with Dr. Reicherter (psychiatrist) and Dr. Osterberg to learnabout the health care and needs of their clients. Participants will also get a tour of the center.

5-8pm:Arastradero Preserve Stewardship Project: Palo Alto's Pearson Arastradero Preserve is a 622-acre open space preserve in the Palo Alto foothills. Acterra is in the eleventh year of a unique collaborative effort with the City of Palo Alto to act as stewards of the preserve. Thousands of dedicated volunteers, together with Acterra staff restore habitat, install native plants, remove invasive species, and otherwise work together to increase biodiversity on the Preserve.

HD: 1-5pm: Camp Training : Camp Costanoan is a residential, respite and recreational camp for children and adults, ages 5 and older, with physical and/or developmental disabilities. HP: 3pm-7pm: Serve Food with Inn Vision: Inn Vission provides many services for the homeless community in Palo Alto. One service is providing hot meals every day of the week at different churches around Palo Alto. Students will help prepare and serve food to the Palo Alto community.

ES: Palo Alto Baylands Nature Interpretive Center: Bounded by Mountain View and East Palo Alto, the 1,940-acre Baylands Preserve is the largest tract of undisturbed marshland remaining in the San Francisco Bay. Fifteen miles of multi-use trails provide access to a unique mixture of tidal and fresh water habitats.

ES: Regional Water Quality Control Plant Tour: Every drop of water we use ends up in San Francisco Bay, and it’s the job of the Regional Water Quality Control Plant to make sure it’s treated to remove pollutants before it gets there. HP: Work with SPOON: SPOON is a student group at Stanford University who takes the waste forom the Stanford diners and gives them to local organizations around Palo Alto to give out to people in poverty. Participants will talk with this group and help them give food the the various organizations.

10:30am: The mission of the Arbor Free Clinic is twofold: to provide quality free medical care to people in need, and to provide an interactive, clinical learning environment for Stanford medical students. 1-4pm: Sunday Friends: Since 1997, Sunday Friends has provided a safe place where homeless and very-low-income families come together with volunteers in a community setting. Participants will work with children by teaching them Asian food or arts and crafts. (http://janis.bizland.com/)

9am-12pm: Green Connect - Community Clean Team District 7: The Community Clean Team is a citywide volunteer program that partners city agencies with residents, merchants and students to clean and beautify San Francisco neighborhoods. Volunteers sweep up litter, plant and tend to neighborhood trees, paint out graffiti and help take care of our schools and parks.

All Day: Faithful Fools Street Retreat: Particpants will go on a street retreat with Faithful Fools which guides people through the streets of San Francisco in the shoes of the homeless. 12-5pm: Volunteer at the Alemany Farm: Alemany Farm empowers San Francisco residents to grow their own food, and through that process encourages people to become more engaged with their communities. We grow organic food and green jobs for low-income communities, while sowing the seeds for economic and environmental justice. 9am: Pacific Environment protects the living environment of the Pacific Rim by promoting grassroots activism, strengthening communities and reforming international policies. (www.pacificenvironment.org/article.php?id=58)
Afternoon: The Center for Resource Solutions (CRS) is a national nonprofit with global impact. CRS brings forth expert responses to climate change issues with the speed and effectiveness necessary to provide real-time solutions. Participants will visit this organizaiton and learn more about their objectives.

10:30am: Magnet Clinic: Magnet Clinic and visit to the Castro: “In the Middle of the Castro [neighborhood], Magnet takes a truly holistic approach to gay men’s physical, mental and sexual health. . .”
Magnet offers a variety of services to gay men, including anonymous testing and screening for HIV and sexually transmitted diseases. However, Magnet prides itself on being more than just a sterile clinic. At its location in the Castro, it also provides art shows, seminars, counseling services and even game nights.
The Director, Steven Gibson, will talk to the group about Magnet’s role in the community and gay men’s health care. (www.magnetsf.org/)

11am-1pm: Axis Dance Studio: Dance Access was created in direct response to community demand. They believe that providing dance opportunities to all people enriches the entire community. Morning: The mission of Hamilton Family Center is to end homelessness for the families that we serve by providing a safe, stable, temporary home environment that promotes the dignity of each family.
