Service Project Week

Saturday, August 19

  • 9am – 2pm: Friends of the Urban Forest:  Tree planting project in San Francisco.  We will learn about the importance of urban green space, plant trees with San Francisco natives, and share in a potluck lunch after our volunteer work
  • Orientation to the city

Sunday, August 20

Monday, August 21

  • 9am – 1pm: Visit Peter Christensen’s community garden in Berkeley. We’ll learn about the slightly different focus of Peter’s community garden, and volunteer there again for the morning
  • 2pm – 3pm: Visit green building near Peter’s community garden
  • Visit the Berkeley area

Tuesday, August 22

  • Visits to relevant environmental and agricultural organization, such as the Sierra Club in San Francisco.

Wednesday, August 23

  • Homestay and service learning in the Monterey area. Service learning trip may involve visit to Stanford’s Hopkins Marine Station, beach clean up, visits to aquariums, etc.

Thursday, August 24

  • Homestay and service learning in the Monterey area. Service learning trip may involve visit to Stanford’s Hopkins Marine Station, beach clean up, visits to aquariums, etc.
